Hackintoshing a Sandy Bridge Laptop: HP Probook 4530s

People who know me know that I always recommend Apple laptops. I am convinced that they are the best laptops on the planet and worth every penny. However, a few weeks back, I picked up the HP Probook 4530s to review and monkey around with. This particular model has gathered a lot of steam on the forum, and considering the price ($475) and relative compatibility it seemed like a cool little project.
Compared to building a custom desktop computer, hackintoshing a laptop is a dramatic undertaking, and can be a very painful process. It's not like building a computer from parts, choosing which compatible components you want or need. Only certain very specific models work well. Things like power management become more important because of the battery and using the lid to sleep the computer. For networking, having functional wifi is way more important than ethernet. And the keyboard and trackpad can be a nightmare.
With the launch of Mac OS X Lion, Intel's onboard HD 3000 graphics, integrated into all Sandy Bridge mobile CPUs, became fully compatible. The only thing necessary to achieve full acceleration is a MacBook Pro 8,1 system definition. Therefore many more laptops now have functional Intel graphics, and are viable hackintosh candidates.

One item we need to consider when buying a Laptop to install with Sabily, that it is not installed with Microsoft Windows operating system inside it. Meaning it is FreeDos. The price of the Laptop will be more cheaper if without Microsoft Windows install inside it. Unless you still want to use Windows OS and install Sabily inside it. LINUX-BASED SPARK TABLET TO SHIP IN MAY FOR $265

A 7 inch Linux-based tablet called Spark will be up for pre-order starting next week. It is expected to start shipping in May. The tablet was unveiled by one of the developers last week.
The Spark is essentially a rebranded version of the Zenithink C71 tablet. It will first ship in Europe. It will run Mer, a community based version of MeeGo Linux operating system with the KDE Plasma Active software environment. The tablet’s bootloader won’t be locked. That means you can change the OS if you want to.
The Spark tablet has a 1GHz AMLogic ARM Cortex A9 processor, Mali 400 graphics, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. The 7 inch capacitive multitouch display has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Other specifications include WiFi 802.11b/g, 2 USB ports, a microSD card slot, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera and a 3.5mm audio jack. At launch, it will be WiFi-only. Models with 3G and GPS are expected to be available some time later. Prices start at $265

MSI INTRODUCES WIND U180 CEDAR TRAIL ATOM POWERED NETBOOK

MSI too has jumped onto the Cedar Trail netbook bandwagon. The MSI U180 is the company’s first Cedar Trail Atom powered netbook. It was first showcased at the CES in January. And now MSI has officially introduced the 10 incher.
In terms of looks, the MSI Wind U180 isn’t all that different from MSI’s existing line of netbooks, but under the hood it is a different machine. The new MSI U180 will be available with a choice of the 1.6Ghz Intel Atom N2660 or the faster 1.86Ghz Atom N2800 processor. The laptop supports up to 2GB of RAM and a 250GB or 320GB hard drive. Both 3-cell and 6-cell battery options are available. The 10 inch display has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.
Other specifications include 2 USB 2.0 ports, Bluetooth 3.0 and WiFi 802.11n. The laptop runs Windows 7 Starter Edition. The Cedar Trail Atom processors have HD video capabilities, so MSI has also equipped the laptop with an HDMI output port. No word on pricing at the moment.

The VAIO TX3. Sony’s Latest Notebook Series

Sony has recently launched its latest notebook series – the VAIO TX3 – which is said to deliver performances because of their embedded Intel new Core Solo Ultra-Low Voltage (ULV) processor and a battery life of up to seven hours.
The manufacturer said that it has used a special material for the notebooks’ case, one which is used in the aerospace industry and for the Formula One bolides. Because of the strength the carbon fiber laminate has (it surpasses the magnesium alloy resistance), the notebook benefits from an enhanced shock resistant feature, and a low weight – only 1,25 kg. (Sony didn’t mention if the batteries were included.)"The TX3-Series is exceptional," says Jun Koyama, Marketing Director of VAIO Europe. "The level of engineering behind it puts it in a class of its own, which is instantly obvious when you first see, let alone use one.
